California To Cut Illegal's Welfare?

There's No Place Like Home

I came home from work at about 9pm. Grabbed a beer, cuddled the hubby, watched some FUTBOL...played on Facebook. Then the hubby went to bed and I of course, right off work, was WIDE AWAKE. So, I popped an oft watched movie in the DVD player hoping to be bored to sleep. FAIL. So I poured myself a glass of pinot and went out back to sit on my patio and chill.

I heard a drip. A drip, drip, drip. Not a normal one and here it is now.....12:30 AM. The sound was so annoying I opened the garage door and sought it out. Seems the guy who lives diagonally across from me in the back is leaking. The water is coming from above his garage...which means kitchen or bathroom. So.....not knowing what to do, I kinda walked around and found one neighbor who's lights were still on and asked then how to turn off the water. She was gracious and helped me out. We shut his water off, not that that will help as he is clearly out of town, all his windows are closed and it's hot as hell. It will be UGLY in his house. Had he left me a key.....

Sad thing is....I have lived here for 4 years and until tonight, did not know the name of the man who lives in a town home only 15 feet from my back door. Sad.

So I hope everything is OK. But who knows. I don't even know the guy. Yet we live just one garage away. One thing that is lacking so much today in America is community. Caring for your neighbor. I miss that. We should all miss that.

Why Hate Crime Legislation Doesn't Work

Marty Marshall was brutally beaten, he spent 5 days in critical care. His family, a young daughter, his young son and his wife as well as two family friends were all assaulted. Attacked, it seems for no reason at all by up to 50 "youths". Horrific story.

Marty and his family are white, the "youths" who beat him and his family are black. Allegedly, the gang bangers, screamed out, "This is our world" and "This is a black world", before the beating began. I wouldn't be surprised, I've actually heard those terms used in recent months especially, more than once.

Had the family been black and the "youths" been white, this would be a clear case of "hate crimes". But, according to the story...."Akron police are investigating. Right now, the case is not being classified as a racial hate crime." Of course not. And rightfully so, crimes like this are by the very definition of the act, acts of hate.

But, once again, had the family been black, the hate crime label would be in play, and I am SURE, the Rev. Al Sharpton would be all over this. But, since it was just Whitey, they jus gettin' what dey deserve right? Total bollocks.

Are We Safer?

My local CVS pharmacy carries beer. Their prices are dirt cheap, I buy all beer there! But then they did the most stupid thing I can think of, they sold to a minor. So, they lost their license for 90 days. 90 days where, if I wanted beer the only reasonably close place to buy beer was the grocery store which averages about 5+ dollars more per pack or case. I was pissed. All they had to do was ask for ID.

So a few weeks ago they finally got their license back and for the first couple of times I stopped in, they asked for ID, then....they slipped again. In the 3 times I have been stopped by in the last 2 weeks, not once have they asked me for ID, nor have they asked others who are clearly on the borderline for ID. Are they STUPID????

When will they learn....when will WE learn?

Apparently, in Far North Dallas a flag burner went on a rampage and burned a bunch of American flags, including one that flew in front of the home of Ed Jordan, retired USMC. Now that would not be feel good news at all of course but.....

This is...."Since writing the article, I've been contacted by soldiers, civilians, a flag manufacturer and the agent for Kid Rock -- all of whom want to help replace the burned flags. An Army veteran offered up an American flag he said had been flown over several camps and bases in Iraq."
