I was pondering this as I walked the dog this morning. The swine flu seems to be attacking primarily young people; kids, teens and 20 somethings. I wonder if this isn't a product of the "clean generation". Parents have so protected the children of this generation. They've kept them wrapped in antibacterial soaps, wipes, creams. They keep them from running, playing and getting dirty. They get antibiotic's prescribed for the sniffles. In short, they've kept their kids too protected. I wonder if this is not a reason why seemingly healthy young people are being so adversely effected by this. Just a thought.

I know it has nothing to do with politics, but it has everything to do with an end to an era. A personal one. Right now I am watching the very last episode of the longest running soap opera in history, Guiding Light. The one and only soap opera I have ever watched, followed or cared about.
My mom watched Guiding Light her whole life and I watched it with her. Sure months could go by in the last few years where I wouldn't watch an episode. But like family, they were always there. 35 years I have watched The Guiding Light. And today, with the final episode airing,well, it just makes me sad.
Goodbye Guiding Light it was a good run. I will miss you.

Faina Rapoport was on the 94th floor of WTC 1 on that sunny Tuesday morning in September 2001. An immigrant from Russia, Faina and her family,Jews from Moscow, wanted to escape religious persecution. They came to America in 1994 and settled in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, a Russian Jewish community near Coney Island.
She and her husband Yuriy worked hard, learned English and Faina landed a job as a computer programmer at Accenture at the World Trade Center. Together they bought a condo at the beach.
I am sure her children Alex and Elena miss their mother very much. I only hope they know that America misses her too.

This morning Barack Hussein Obama blathered on about some rah rah YES YOU CAN crap to students all over the country. His speech was being hailed as ground breaking and the MSM was so excited they almost all had a Chris Matthews sized boner in anticipation of The Won speaking.
So it makes you wonder what the big deal was when George Bush Sr. did the same thing, albeit more on the down low, so many years ago. What was their reaction then? Well.......

"President Barack Obama's adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.
Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly "green jobs" with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans."

"The publisher of the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday stood by his claim that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid threatened one of the newspaper's employees, after Reid's office claimed the alleged threat was meant as a joke.
Publisher Sherman Frederick first accused Reid of "bullying" in a column Sunday. He said Reid told his paper's ad director, "I hope you go out of business," at a local Chamber of Commerce luncheon a few days earlier.
After the column generated a lot of controversy and attention, Reid spokesman Jon Summers claimed the newspaper misinterpreted the remark.
"Clearly he wasn't serious," he said. "Once again, the editors at the Review-Journal got it wrong."
