The day the wi-fi died....Today my wireless router suffered a apocalyptic hemorrhage and passed on to the great beyond. Not surprising, it was 4 years old, as old as this POS lap top.
So I bought a shiny new pimp style router, added it, set it up and was off to the races.
Or not.
It was not working. Soooooo, I called the cable company, another 45 minutes I will never get back. They determined that the modem was fine, so basically I need to piss off. Nice girl I talked to. She was in the Philippines. I asked her how the weather was today, she said another typhoon was on it's way. I told her that sucked and I hoped she was OK and to take care.
I called the router company and spent another 45 minutes, at least, talking to a fine gentleman in India. Funny guy, he suggested I use more cumin in my chicken curry if I wanted it to have more authentic flavor. I agree.
He also solved the problem. It was a bitch, damn Windows XP. But we got through it despite the fact I could only understand every other word he said. Didn't help I was calling from my crappy ass 3 year old Motorola cell phone.
Thing that bothered me, is that it seems if we employed-ACTUAL AMERICANS-to do these jobs we might ACTUALLY solve some of the joblessness in this country. I have a very close friend in the Philippines they're great people and if I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my life it would be Indian, but DAMN!!! I'd pay an extra 5 bucks a month for my cable/internet/phone to employ AMERICANS.
We have been outsourced.
